Life in and out of airports can be quite a challenge. We road warriors have a name for this unofficially calling it the #flightClub. The kind of conversation you may see like Clooney in the movie Up in the Air is kinda true. But one of the more realistic points from this lifestyle, is the joys of finding some good airport eat spots.
In this post, I would like to share one of my favorites. I only get to find this place when I fly United and leaving SFO airport. Near Gate 82/83, you will find a restaurant called “Buena Vista”. I add the Cafe on it for my own special effects. 🙂
I discovered these Crab Avocado Quesadilla about 1.5 years ago when I needed something quick before hoping a flight back to the East Coast. Ever since then, it has been one of my favorites.
It features Dungeness Crab meat ( I swear it’s the freshest I have ever had ), with some avocado, cheese and #thatIsAll. Simply enough, it’s absolutely amazing as you can see from the Video above ( which is my first venture into taking #JamilEats Video — more to come ). Optional items that come with the meal are Pineapple Salsa/Pico and Sour Cream. With my natural ability to visualize what would accompany a meal, I came up with the perfect mix….. drumroll…… Sour Cream and Buffalo Sauce. Don’t let me spoil it for you, please check the video out above and if you are ever flying United in Terminal 3 at SFO, please go by and check it out.
When I tell you I have some great #SiliconValley go to eat spots, I really do. I love the Santa Clara Wrap This not only because of the great food, but also because they stay open really late ( almost 11.30pm ). They are located not to far from the Santa Clara University campus right off the Alameda.
My go to meal is the wonderful Tandoori Chicken Platter. It comes with a Greek Salad, Pita Bread, Hummus, and Rice. Very good meal all for about $10 USD, you truly can’t beat it.
I honestly have not tried much else in the 2+ years I have been coming here. It is my first stop when I get off the place at SFO and get down to Santa Clara. Do yourself a favor and try it for your self. Ask for extra hot sauce ( if you are into spicy ). The chili paste is a must once you get into the meal ( meaning you’ll want more ). I added a picture of the menu below so you can see what other goodies they have.
It’s been about 3 years that I have been coming to #SiliconVally for work. In the dot.com industry, we always #workHard and #eatHard. Whenever I have those late lunch days where you’re just so focused and finally get a breather around 2/3pm, nothing serves as a better hunger reliever than the Specialty’s. I don’t think there isn’t anyone in the valley or Mountain View for that matter that does not know this name.
It didn’t take me long to find a favorite and it’s pictured above: the Hot Cheesy Steak.
If you want it the #jamileats way, do the following:
Located in the heart of Downtown San Jose in Silicon Valley is the 2015 Michelin Award Winning Backayard Grill. Usually when I visit anywhere out of town, I always ask “Where can I get some good Jerk Chicken?”. The first thing off everyone’s tongue is this place Backayard.
Featured above is the Jerk Chicken and Salmon Combination plate with Rice & Peas and Collard Greens. They have an awesome sauce that I also picked to try on some of my favorite home cooking dishes. Highly recommended for Silicon Valley, if you ever find yourself in San Jose please check them out.
You can find them online at the following social links:
Salads are an integral part any diet as I see it. No better way to get your daily dose of “green”. As the old school cliche goes, “Fruits clean the body, Vegetables feed the body!”. Anyway, moving on, sometimes, eating salads daily, can get a little “boring” to day the least. I wanted to write this post to share one of my best kept secrets on a way to spice up a salad.
It goes with making a traditional salad with all our favorite toppings but by adding a special kick of #boneless #chicken on top. I usually frequent different Wings spots to get my fix. One of my favorites is the legendary #Wingstop restaurant. Enjoy and I’ll have another blog post coming up on my favorite way to make a salad.
Fresh off a #miami #flightClub layover from #mexicoCity, the first thought on your mind is to #stayCalm #FindGoodFood. I did exactly that, ran across this place called “Catch of the Day”. Very interesting spot with a cross between seafood meets Cantina.
You know my first question, “What’s good amigo?”, of course is was the start of an early 3pm to 7pm #happyHour which means #lateLunch for me in the #dotCom world.
Whenever you are, you have to always try the #wings if they have some, it’s always a true indicator of how serious the feel about their #happyHour game.
What I put together is above, #cajun #buffaloWings with a side of #spinach. I am a crazy #veggie nut so I had to remix it as always!!! #jamileats #foodie style
I am putting this one down as #jamileats approved, #stayHungryMyFriends

Another one of my great favorites from 2 Guys Grille. If you ever visit this spot and want a burger, this is it. The original meal as listed from the menu is this:
Topped w/ American Cheese, spicy mustard, red onions, chili, and slaw
I remix it a little bit by doing the following:
– removing the red onions and slaw
– adding jalapenos, sauerkraut
The combination of the chilli and sauerkraut may be a surprise but let me tell you, it’s an awesome combination. The jalapenos give the burger an extra punch. Combine it with the 2 Guys Grille signature sweet potato fries for a great meal.
If you try this, let me know what you think. Definitely head over to the 2 guys grille Menu or the Official 2 Guys Grille Facebook Page and let them know what you think. If you can be so gracious, please leave a hashtag #jamileats at the end of your comments to let them know how you found out about them. 🙂
